Chesapeake Energy Donates Aquatic Ramp to Downtown YMCA

A red-ribbon cutting ceremony was held on January 26
at the Downtown Fort Worth YMCA, celebrating the
donation by Chesapeake Energy of a new aqua ramp
for the James L. & Eunice West pool.

Senior adults, children and members of the Amon G. Carter, Jr. Downtown Fort Worth YMCA are now enjoying easier access into and out of the James L. & Eunice West pool.

The AquaTrek ramp, donated by Chesapeake Energy, provides a practical solution to aquatic access and lets people of all ages and abilities enter and exit the pool with ease. Handrails on the side of the ramp provide additional stability.

The ramp has already seen lots of use. One member in particular, Thomas Brogan, was happy to see the ramp installed. Mr. Brogan, who suffers from multiple sclerosis said, “The pool provides daily aquatic therapy for me, and the new ramp will help me get in the pool more easily.”

Chesapeake employees Victoria Adams, Manager of Lease Records, and Debbie Forrester, Manager Employee Relations, were instrumental in bringing the need for a ramp to the attention of the Chesapeake’s Community Relations team.

“We are very grateful to Chesapeake Energy for their support of this project, and their willingness make such a difference for so many in our community,” said Rich Micelli, District Executive of the Amon G. Carter Downtown YMCA.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to dedicate the installation of the AquaTrek ramp in late-January. Several YMCA board members, Chesapeake volunteers and members of the YMCA were on hand to join in the celebration.

“This ramp will provide easier access to the pool for those needing assistance, and I know it will make a positive impact on many members of the community,” said Adams.
