Corporate Giving Guidelines

Corporate giving guidelines for the Barnett Shale

Chesapeake Energy prides itself on the true concern for the welfare of our employees, neighbors and a dedication to the enhancement of the quality of life in those communities where we live, work and play. Our corporate-giving goal is to share an appropriate percentage of the rewards of our Barnett Shale drilling success, not only with those who are fortunate enough to live over this clean-burning natural gas reservoir, but also with those who may not directly benefit through mineral ownership. Therefore, our priorities are to support those activities and programs in the neighborhoods and communities where we are actively doing business and are similarly supported by the neighborhoods themselves.

Chesapeake frequently supports the needs of the following:

•  Economic development
•  Education/youth enrichment
•  Emergency responders
•  Environment/parks & recreation
•  Neighborhood-based

Entities Chesapeake supports within our operating areas:

•  U.S.-based IRS 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit organizations
•  Accredited educational institutions
•  Community event sponsorships

Entities and events typically not supported by Chesapeake:

•  Individual persons or families
•  Political candidates or organizations. If you are seeking this type of support, please
contact the Energy for Texans Political Action Committee at energyfortexans@gmail.com
•  Religious activities, in whole or in part, for the purpose of furthering religious doctrine
•  Faith-based organizations must provide services to all clients regardless of denomination
•  Travel expenses
•  No golf tournaments outside of the HP Byron Nelson Championship and Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial

What makes a grant application competitive?

 •  Affordability and sustainability
 •  Lasting impact on the community
 •  Significant and measurable outcomes
 •  Potential for collaboration with other complementary endeavors
