Arlington, Texas
Chesapeake operates approximately half of all the natural gas wells in Arlington. With over 150 wells drilled from 34 padsites, we are proud to be recognized as the city’s leading urban operator.
The numbers behind natural gas production in Arlington give way to a powerful story. From 2008-2011, the City of Arlington self-reported receiving $82 million dollars in revenue from the natural gas industry, including lease bonuses, royalties, mineral ad valorem, pipeline easements or license agreements, permitting fees and water sales. Total oil and natural gas industry revenue reported for 2011 was $30.2 million. Additionally, Arlington Independent School District reported receiving $2.7 million dollars in just one year (2011) from mineral ad valorem revenue.
The revenue isn’t just realized by municipalities, but also by local mineral owners. These mineral owners are residents, businesses, non-profit organizations and churches that have benefitted from bonus and royalty payments made from Barnett Shale wells. In fact, Chesapeake has distributed more than one and a half billion dollars in royalties to North Texas mineral owners in the last few years. The company also shows significant charitable support and a commitment to volunteerism in the communities in which it operates.
In the Barnett, everyone benefits from the production of the clean, affordable, abundant, American resource that is on track to help our country achieve energy independence.
