Scholarships

Chesapeake Scholarship

To qualify for the Chesapeake Scholarship program, applicants must:

  • Have at least a 3.0 grade point average
  • Have been accepted by an accredited college, university or vocational school
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident living in Tarrant or Dallas counties
  • Meet the minority definition, as established by the Disadvantaged, Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise.

Applications are available through the school counselor’s office at the Fort Worth Independent School District or through the Community Foundation of North Texas.

Johnson County Scholarship

To be considered for the Johnson County Chesapeake Scholarship, you must submit an application. The deadline for submissions for fall 2012 is June 1, 2012. Scholarship applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior at a participating high school located in Johnson County, Texas
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Have taken the ACT or SAT
  • Have applied and been accepted to an accredited college, university or vocational school and plan to be enrolled as a full-time student by the fall semester
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident living in Johnson County, Texas
  • Be in need of financial assistance

Fort Worth ISD Graduates to Receive Up To $224,000 Toward College From Chesapeake Scholarship

Congratulations to our 2011 recipients: Silverio Canchola ( Carter-Riverside High School), Katy Levee (Dunbar High School), Mayra Lopez (Trimble Tech High School), Abigail Rosales (Paschal High School), Raul Salas (Diamond-Hill Jarvis High School), Angel Solorzano (Western Hills High School), Shanequiwa Sledge (Polytechnic High School) and Jasmine Washington (Dunbar High School).

Eight Fort Worth ISD graduates were be awarded a combined $56,000 toward their college educations during the 2011 Chesapeake Scholarship awards ceremony held June 16th at Chesapeake Plaza. Renewable for up to four years for students who remain eligible, the total value of the scholarships could reach $224,000, providing significant economic assistance for the students to complete their educations. The Fort Worth scholarship program is administered by the Community Foundation of North Texas on behalf of Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK).

Dallas Students Receive $65,191 from Mayor’s Chesapeake Energy Scholarship


Congratulations to our 2011 recipients: Diamond Cleaver (James Madison High School), Chi Do (Skyline High School), Jonathan Fluker (North Dallas High School), Leticia Hernandez (Thomas Jefferson High School), Vivian Linares (James Madison High School), Victoria Robinson (WT White High School) and Alex Watson (Justin F. Kimball High School).

Seven Dallas-area high school seniors were awarded a combined $65,191 toward their college education May 26th at the 2011 Mayor’s Chesapeake Energy Scholarship Award Luncheon, held at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) created the $3.75 million scholarship with an initial $2.5 million contribution. The remaining $1.25 million was raised in a challenge match by the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth for scholarship programs in both cities. Four years later, 55 students from Dallas and Fort Worth independent school districts have been awarded four-year renewable scholarships.

College-bound Johnson County students receive financial boost from Chesapeake


Congratulations to our 2011 recipients: Maria Bustamante-Oviendo (Cleburne High School), Marty Grimes (Grandview High School), Kaitlin McHargue (Cleburne High School) and Kayla Shaffer (Cleburne High School).

Four exceptionally talented Johnson County graduates have been awarded a combined $45,000 toward their college educations through a pair of Chesapeake Energy scholarships. Three of the students received Johnson County Chesapeake Scholarships, while the fourth was named a Cleburne Salutatorian scholar. Each of the recipients graduated from Johnson County schools earlier this year and will attend in-state colleges beginning this fall.
