Barnett Shale Vendor Registration

Chesapeake Energy Corporation is committed to making a difference in the communities in which we operate. In an effort to build relationships with local businesses and enhance our subcontracting process, Chesapeake has created a vendor registration program.

In the Barnett Shale, Chesapeake encourages qualified potential vendors that wish to become an "approved" Chesapeake vendor to register online. As one of the largest natural gas producers in the nation, Chesapeake maintains high business standards for selection of a diverse group of potential businesses which support the company’s procurement needs.

Registration does not imply that a contractual agreement is in place, nor does registration create obligation for Chesapeake to procure services from your business. Your company's information will be placed in our potential vendor database, which is frequently accessed by our sourcing teams to identify a variety of suppliers that could fulfill a current business need. A Chesapeake team member will contact you should such an opportunity become available.

Supplier Diversity

Chesapeake Energy Corporation is committed to identifying, attracting and developing long-term relationships with historically underutilized businesses, including those certified as M/WBE. We believe that this process helps increase opportunities for diverse suppliers that benefit both parties.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Chesapeake’s potential vendor database?

A. Chesapeake’s Barnett Shale vendor database is a resource tool for the company’s sourcing team and is used to identify qualified contractors for the purpose of becoming potential vendors.

Q. How do I register?

A. Potential vendors are asked to fill out a vendor registration form completely, including the departments to which your services will apply. The profile should include all of the applicant’s capabilities and relevant certifications. Upon completion of the application, the information will be sent to and maintained in the Chesapeake vendor database for one year.

Q. If I’m registered, does that mean I am guaranteed to do business for Chesapeake?

A. Completion of the vendor registration form does not guarantee that the applicant will be requested to perform services for Chesapeake, nor does it replace any approval or qualification process that may be required to execute a particular type of service. The completion of the application ensures only that your company will be considered for potential projects. In the event that Chesapeake has an opportunity to procure products and/or services that match the description in a vendor’s application, then that application may be considered and the vendor contacted by a Chesapeake team member. If contacted, potential vendors will be required to sign Chesapeake's master service agreement and fulfill all of its requirements.

Q. What if I have completed Chesapeake’s vendor registration form but have not been contacted for a project or bid opportunity?

A. If a registered business has not been contacted for a procurement opportunity, either a current business need does not exist or there is not a match between the vendor's product/service and Chesapeake’s procurement needs. All registration information will remain in the system for one year from the date of submission.

Q. Who has access to my information?

A. Only Chesapeake’s procurement team will have access to your information in the supplier database. A list of the vendors and their information will be forwarded to the appropriate departments for consideration. As a need for particular products or services is determined by Chesapeake, this database will be reviewed for potential contractors. If a match is determined, the potential vendor may be contacted to submit additional information.

Q. Once registered, is my company considered for projects or bid opportunities outside of the Barnett Shale?

A. No. The vendor registration form only applies to products or services needed by Chesapeake operations in the Barnett Shale and does not apply to any other operational areas.
