William Peters Town Park is the hub of social activity in Greenwood, Louisiana. From summer musicals to farmers’ markets and festivals, the plot of land in the center of town provides a place for fellowship to strengthen the community.
After many years of activity, the park’s stage was is need of replacement. With Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s sponsorship, construction began earlier this year and the new stage was unveiled at the Greenwood Pioneer Heritage Festival.
The two-day celebration commemorated the area’s early pioneers and featured a parade, vendors, a pancake breakfast and special ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Our investment in the town of Greenwood is particularly exciting since all citizens in the area will receive enjoyment from the Greenwood Stage and Town Park,” said Paul Pratt, Chesapeake’s Director - Corporate Development. “At Chesapeake, we believe in improving the quality of life in the areas in which we work, live and raise our families, and this project is a great example of our corporate values."
