Compressor Stations

Compressor stations utilize machines, called compressors, to pressurize the gas in order to move it from point A to point B. Compressors can either be used at the wellhead or at a central location along the pipeline. The number of compressors in a general area will vary based on the amount of gas produced from nearby wells, the size of the pipeline and the distance the gas has to travel to the nearest pipeline market.

At compressor stations, natural gas is cleaned and treated to industry specifications and is brought to the right pressure for safe and efficient transport. Any remaining water vapor is then removed from the gas stream using separator vessels and dehydration equipment.
