The Fayetteville Shale represents an incredible opportunity for Arkansas. It provides increased economic growth, new jobs and new revenue streams for a vibrant business climate that will make communities in the Natural State better places to live.

Whether you own mineral rights or not, there is economic opportunity for everyone. Customers have more money to spend purchasing products and services. Employees have the opportunity to enjoy increased earnings as a result of higher profits for business. Schools can provide more equipment and better facilities through natural gas revenue for students and residents can benefit from increased services in their city and county thanks to tax revenue generated from the natural gas industry.

In addition to fueling the local and state economies, domestically produced natural gas helps fuel the power needs of the nation and reduces our dependence on foreign resources. A difference can also be felt in your family’s pocketbook because natural gas is cheaper and more abundant than oil. It is estimated that North America’s natural gas supply will last more than 120 years.

Natural gas warms homes, heats water and cooks food. It also fuels a number of power plants, which  helps provide electricity to homes across the country.

In addition, the compressed natural gas (CNG) market continues to develop worldwide as natural gas offers a readily viable alternative transportation fuel.

Who is Chesapeake?

Chesapeake is one of the largest producers of natural gas in the nation and the most active driller of new wells in the U.S. We were named the Best-Managed Energy Company by Forbes in 2007 and Fortune magazine has voted Chesapeake as one of the nation's "100 Best Companies to Work For®" for two consecutive years, 2008 - 2009.

We have been doing business in Arkansas since 2005 and have a field office in White County near Searcy and a regional corporate development office in Little Rock.

Headquartered in Oklahoma City, our strategy is focused on discovering, acquiring and developing conventional and unconventional natural gas reserves onshore in the U.S., primarily in the "Big 4" natural gas shale plays, the Barnett Shale of North-central Texas, the Haynesville Shale of East Texas and Northwest Louisiana, the Fayetteville Shale of North-central Arkansas and the Marcellus Shale of the northern Appalachian Basin.
